DAVIS, California—October 24, 2016—It’s no trick of the eye: Symphony Financial Planning will sponsor November’s optical-illusion-themed installment of Art After Dark.

The Pence Gallery is hosting the new Art After Dark series on the first Friday of each month. The series explores the social side of making and enjoying art in a fun atmosphere, and it features interactive and performance art, music, drinks and free food.

The November 4 installment will explore the theme of illusions.

“It’s such a fun concept, and we’re thrilled to be the sponsor,” said Paul Meyerhoff, President and Founder of Symphony Financial Planning. “The point of Art After Dark is to be interactive—to engage all the senses—and pairing that interactivity with optical illusions should really make for a fun and engaged evening.”

To that end, attendees will be able to view—and touch—optical illusions, create their own illusions and immerse themselves in the infinity of a special mirrored space. Artist Janet Crittenden will create a “forgery in progress” as she copies a masterwork of art. In addition, the bartender will serve “twisted cocktails,” and a rock band, as yet unannounced, will perform.

“Illusions” is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. at the gallery, at 212 D St. in downtown Davis. Tickets cost $10 for general admission, $8 for students and $5 for members. They can be purchased at the door or online at

Symphony Financial Planning’s sponsorship is part of its unwavering commitment to supporting the Davis arts community. Earlier this month, the firm sponsored the 2016 Davis Art Studio Tour, and it regularly hosts art exhibits at its office as part of the 2nd Friday ArtAbout events organized by the Davis Downtown organization.
